Entries open for Excellence in Sustainable Construction award at 2026 CAOE
Nominations are now open for the Excellence in Sustainable Construction award at the 2026 Construction Awards of Excellence (CAOE), inviting UK construction firms, project teams and developers to showcase their most impactful environmental and sustainability achievements.
Organised by the National Federation of Builders, in conjunction with Build News, the Construction Awards of Excellence celebrate outstanding delivery across the UK construction sector, with entries judged independently by an expert panel. This year’s programme includes 16 award categories, reflecting priorities such as sustainability, innovation, heritage, training and performance.
The Excellence in Sustainable Construction category recognises projects that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainable building practices, energy efficiency, and reducing environmental impact.

Entrants are expected to provide clear evidence of how they have addressed environmental, community and social responsibility issues, including innovations in approach and measurable outcomes.
Sustainable Construction at the Forefront
Sustainability is becoming increasingly central to the UK construction industry, with firms integrating low‑carbon materials, energy‑efficient systems, and community‑focused strategies into project delivery.
This award category is designed to highlight work that goes beyond compliance, recognising initiatives that make a genuine difference to environmental performance and industry practice.
Judges will assess entries based on the clarity of sustainability objectives, the effectiveness of implemented solutions, and the outcomes achieved. Wider impact—such as benefits to project teams, local communities or industry peers—will also be considered.
Award Details and Key Dates
The Construction Awards of Excellence ceremony will take place on Thursday 12 November 2026 at The Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, bringing together contractors, developers, architects, consultants and business leaders from across the built environment.
Entries for the 2026 awards programme, including the Excellence in Sustainable Construction category, are now open and can be submitted via the awards website. Finalists for all categories will be announced following the entry deadline, with winners revealed at the gala awards event later in the year.
As the construction sector continues to prioritise environmental performance and responsible delivery, the Excellence in Sustainable Construction award presents a platform to celebrate best practice and support the transition to a more resilient, low‑carbon built environment.
