The scheme is being constructed under a Design & Build 2016 contract.
Construction and Design
The development features a reinforced concrete frame with steel frame system (SFS) infill and a brick façade. It replaces a former office building and forms part of the wider student accommodation provision in the Westwood Business Park area.
Internal facilities will include a gym, cinema room, study spaces and communal lounges, alongside external landscaped areas, outdoor sports space and a ground floor commercial unit of approximately 4,000 sq ft.
The scheme is targeting a BREEAM Excellent rating, EPC A and WiredScore Platinum certification. Sustainability measures include a green roof and photovoltaic systems aimed at reducing operational carbon.
Digital construction methods are also being applied, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes aligned with the Information Management Initiative (IMI) Framework and the use of robotic setting out to support coordination and quality control.
Programme and Community Engagement
Construction is scheduled for completion in summer 2027, with the development expected to be ready for the 2027/28 academic year.
