Varney and Varney site manager wins big at NHBC Pride in the Job awards
Robert Gee, site manager at family-run housebuilder Varney and Varney Homes, has won a Seal of Excellence and Regional Award at the 2026 NHBC Pride in the Job Awards.
Varney and Varney Homes also secured the Regional Award in the West region’s Small Builder category.
The awards recognise Gee’s work overseeing the construction of four detached homes in Bretforton, near Evesham, which have now been completed.

The Pride in the Job Awards began with more than 7,500 sites across the UK, with 449 site managers receiving a Quality Award. A smaller number progressed to receive a Seal of Excellence and Regional Award.
Judging is based on unannounced site inspections throughout the year, with site managers assessed on areas including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical knowledge, and health and safety.
Gee, who started his career working on the tools, said: “I’ve always believed in doing a job properly, whether anyone is checking or not. To have that recognised by the NHBC means a great deal, and it’s really down to every trade who worked on this site.”

Each property also includes a large private garden.
The development is being delivered by Varney and Varney Homes, a family-run housebuilder operating in the region.
Carl Varney, director of Varney and Varney Homes, said: “We only build homes we’d be proud to live in ourselves, and Robert brings that standard to every detail. For a small family firm to be recognised alongside the country’s biggest housebuilders is something the whole team is proud of.
“We want people to come and see the Bretforton homes for themselves, because a walk through any one of them shows what these awards are about.”
Regional award puts Gee in contention for national prize
The Regional Award places Gee in contention for the national Supreme Award, which will be announced in January 2027.
