Connectivity specialist TrellisWorks has been appointed by HS2 civil engineering joint venture EKFB to provide internet and network connectivity across six construction sites along an 80km stretch of the high-speed rail project.

The Newbury-based company will support sites operated by EKFB, the joint venture of Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall, across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.

The three-year appointment will provide connectivity for site operations and the delivery of the main works civils programme, supporting activities including CCTV, office and site connections and access to digital platforms.

TrellisWorks has supported EKFB with connectivity solutions since 2020, providing internet infrastructure across the 80km section of the HS2 works.

The latest appointment will continue that support across six EKFB construction sites, with connectivity required to support day-to-day operations and digital systems.

TrellisWorks’ Director, Grant Holman, said it was a great opportunity to support one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects providing vital connectivity to support operations on site.

He said: “TrellisWorks specialises in bringing connectivity to even the most complex of situations. Over the last few years, we have helped construction sites get up and running 80% quicker than traditional leased line options and enabled digitally enhanced technology to drive remote working and greater efficiencies across the project.

“Our continued collaboration means that we will be able to build on the successes so far and help the project to build greater connections and technology across all its sites.”

Paul Seagrave, Head of IT for EKFB, said: “Collaboration is a key part in what we do, so by continuing our work with TrellisWorks, we are assuring our people can continue to deliver major UK infrastructure with fast, reliable connectivity across a multitude of our construction sites and offices.”

The appointment forms part of EKFB’s wider use of digital systems across its HS2 construction sites, with reliable connectivity required to support communications, monitoring and other technology-enabled operations.

TrellisWorks is headquartered in Newbury, Berkshire, with a regional office in Newcastle. The company was formed in 2004 and provides connectivity infrastructure for businesses and major infrastructure projects.
