Construction consultancy Gateley RJA has expanded its national clerk of works team with three appointments as demand for quality assurance and compliance services continues to grow across the construction sector.

The consultancy has appointed Dan Cook as Technical Director, alongside Alex Turpin and Duncan Bremner as Assistant Clerks of Works, strengthening its inspection capability across residential and commercial projects.

Experienced construction professionals join national inspection team

Cook brings 25 years of construction management experience, having previously held senior roles with housebuilders including Bellway Homes, Morris Homes, Barratt Redrow and William Davis Homes.

During his career he has managed construction and customer care teams responsible for delivering residential developments.

He holds an NVQ Level 7 Diploma in Construction Senior Management, is an Associate Member of the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI), and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Based at Gateley RJA’s Market Harborough office, Cook will lead the consultancy’s national clerk of works team, overseeing quality inspection and reporting services across residential and commercial developments.

Turpin joins the business with more than 15 years’ experience, having previously worked for housebuilders and developers including McCarthy & Stone.

Operating across the South East, he will undertake site inspections throughout the construction process through to practical completion and defects inspections.

Bremner brings three decades of construction experience, having spent much of his career in domestic carpentry on developments delivered by Persimmon Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Redrow. He will support projects across the Midlands and North.

Regulatory changes continue to drive demand for clerk of works services

Gateley RJA said the appointments reflect increasing demand for independent construction quality inspections as developers and contractors respond to higher regulatory expectations around quality, compliance and building safety.

Hardeep Kooner, Board Director at Gateley RJA, said: “Over the last six years, our national team has grown to 21 people, as demand for clerk of works services continues to increase in response to growing regulatory pressure across the construction industry to meet strict quality and safety requirements.

“This is the first time we have appointed both technical director and assistant roles, reflecting our continued investment in, and commitment to, establishing a dedicated clerk of works offering as part of our wider growth strategy.

“All three appointments bring extensive industry experience, and we’re looking forward to seeing Dan settle into his role and continue to drive the team forward, providing outstanding services for clients while also supporting the winning of new work.”
