Bromford completes 33-home affordable housing scheme in Malvern
Housing provider Bromford has completed a 33-home affordable housing development on a former QinetiQ site in Malvern, Worcestershire.
The Beacon Heights scheme is located on land off the junction of Thirlstane Road, Court Road and St Andrew’s Road in the Barnards Green area.
The development comprises 27 homes for social rent and six shared ownership properties, with a mix of one-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom houses.

Priority for the rented homes will be given to people with a local connection to Malvern Hills.
Former QinetiQ site redeveloped
The homes have been built on the former Barrack Stores section of the old QinetiQ estate. The site backs onto Malvern College’s playing fields, with Barnards Green’s shops and amenities within walking distance.
The development uses a mix of red brick and render across the homes, which have been designed to improve energy efficiency.
Most of the properties have achieved an EPC rating of A or B, compared with a national average of D. The scheme received funding support from Homes England.
Catherine Jarrett, Regional Director at Bromford, said: “These homes have been a long time coming and I’m pleased we’ve finally reached this point.
“House prices here have been out of reach for many local families for years. These homes are for people with a connection to the area who need somewhere they can afford.”

Councillor Malcolm Victory, who sits on both Malvern Hills District Council and Worcestershire County Council, said: “I am delighted that this development is finally ready to house residents.
“I inspected the homes recently and found them comfortable and relatively spacious, with great views front and back of either the Hills or the College playing fields.
“To say it has been a long haul does not do it justice, and I have pushed hard over several years to see it finished. Congratulations to Bromford for their persistence.”
The completed development adds to Bromford’s affordable housing delivery across the region, with the provider part of Bromford Flagship LiveWest.
Bromford Flagship LiveWest has almost 300,000 customers across the southwest, central and east of England and delivers more than 3,000 new homes each year.
