PLT Training expands scaffold safety training with PASMA accreditation
Health and safety training provider PLT Training has secured PASMA accreditation, expanding the range of working at height training available to construction businesses as the industry continues to focus on workforce competence and site safety.
The Oldbury-based provider can now deliver accredited training covering the safe assembly, inspection, use and dismantling of aluminium scaffold towers, alongside its existing IPAF courses for Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs).
Working at height remains one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities and serious injuries in UK construction, with scaffold tower training forming an important part of competency requirements for many contractors and subcontractors.
Training capability expanded following new facilities and instructor recruitment
The accreditation follows the development of a dedicated scaffold tower training area and the recruitment of three specialist instructors at PLT Training’s new training centre.

The provider said the accreditation process included an independent audit of its facilities and assessment of its technical expertise.
Kath Lang, Operations Director at PLT Training, said: “Relocation to our new training centre has been fundamental in the PASMA accreditation, giving us access to hi-spec classrooms, the latest equipment and additional space to run the courses.
“To secure the internationally recognised standard, we had to be approved by a panel of associate members and had to successfully complete a full audit of our premises whilst demonstrating we have the industry knowledge in place.”
The organisation can now deliver courses covering low-level access equipment, mobile access towers and combined programmes, with additional PASMA training planned over the coming year for specialist tower systems.
Construction employers continue to prioritise competence
The expanded training provision is aimed at scaffolding contractors and other businesses whose employees regularly work at height across construction and related sectors.

Kath Lang said: “We have created three new roles for specialist PASMA instructors already and expect this to double as existing clients and new customers take advantage of our comprehensive, under-one-roof offer.”
She added: “It is great news and comes hot on the heels of our move into the new training centre, which supports more than 10,000 learners every year.
“From here, we have high quality classrooms and six purpose-built zones for forklifts, advanced working at height, manual handling, first aid and a unique confined spaces course that includes working through a series of tunnels and fitting breathing apparatus.”
PLT Training delivers more than 150 health and safety courses from its Oldbury facility and at client sites across the UK.
The latest accreditation expands the range of recognised qualifications available to construction employers seeking to strengthen workforce competence and compliance in working at height.
