Livv Housing Group completes construction on £2.6m project
Livv Housing Group has completed its £2.6 million Mossborough Drive development in Kirkby, Merseyside, marking the delivery of 20 new social rent homes built to modern construction and energy efficiency standards.
The scheme transforms the long vacant site of the former Farmers Arms pub into two L-shaped blocks of cottage style apartments arranged around a central courtyard.
The development provides four one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom apartments across two floors. Each home has an individual front door at street level and its own dedicated parking, reflecting a design approach that supports independence and improved streetscape activity.
Located in the Tower Hill area, the new apartments sit on Mossborough Drive and Moorfield, with good access to public transport links, open green spaces and essential local amenities.
The project represents Livv’s first new build scheme for social rent in Knowsley and forms part of wider efforts to meet the borough’s growing need for high quality affordable housing. The first residents are expected to move in within weeks.
Focus on construction quality and sustainable building methods
Each apartment is fully electric and fitted with an air source heat pump. Enhanced roof and wall insulation has been incorporated to improve overall energy performance and reduce running costs for future occupants.
The project was delivered with Liverpool based contractor Built Group Ltd, supported by grant funding from Homes England. Construction included opportunities for 10 apprentices to gain on site experience with Built Group or its subcontractors.
Yvonne Westhead Fyles, Director of Development at Livv Housing Group, said:
“We are proud to have delivered our first social rent scheme in Knowsley. These homes are more than just bricks and mortar. They offer stability, affordability and opportunity for local people. Social rent is vital in tackling inequality and driving regeneration and this scheme shows our commitment to building inclusive communities.”

“As a local contractor, we are proud to help deliver affordable housing where it is needed most and to support apprentices who gained hands on experience during this build.”
Regeneration impact for Kirkby
Livv Housing Group marked the completion of the project with a site visit from Cllr Tony Brennan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development at Knowsley Council, and representatives from Homes England.
Cllr Brennan said:
“The Mossborough Drive development aligns with the priorities in the Council’s Housing Strategy and has regenerated a site that has been a blight on the area for years. We welcome these high quality affordable homes, particularly one and two bedroom properties which are in short supply.”
Shahi Islam, Director of Affordable Housing at Homes England, added:
“The completion of Mossborough Drive marks a significant milestone and is a clear example of how we work collaboratively with partners like Livv Housing Group to increase the supply of quality affordable homes.”
